How we approach it

So we spend the time on the part nobody photographs: grading so water leaves the house, prepping soil before sod touches it, cutting beds deep enough that the edge is still there next spring. The planting is the easy half.

We do the ongoing side too: mowing, edging, bed maintenance, mulch top-ups. If you'd rather hand the whole property over for the season, that's usually cheaper than calling for each piece.

When is the best time to put in a new lawn in Wisconsin?
Spring and early fall are generally the better windows for a new lawn here. If waiting a few weeks would give you a better result, we'll tell you rather than rush it.

Why does new sod fail?
Usually because of what's underneath it. Sod laid on compacted clay, or on ground that slopes toward the house, struggles no matter how well it's watered. We grade so water runs away from the house and prep the soil before any sod goes down.

Can you fix water pooling near my house?
Often, yes. Grading and drainage correction is part of our landscaping work, so the ground slopes away from the house and the water goes with it. We'll look at it and tell you honestly what it needs.

Do you do ongoing lawn and bed maintenance?
Yes: mowing, edging, bed maintenance and mulch top-ups. If you'd rather hand the whole property over for the season, that usually costs less than calling for each piece separately.

Do you build retaining walls?
Yes, retaining and border walls are part of our landscaping work, along with beds, plantings, mulch and decorative stone. Tell us roughly how long the wall is and what it's holding back, and we'll quote it.
